Instant Pot Pork Shoulder
Notes
To add more flavor, try adding more onions, a packet of onion soup mix or some liquid smoke.
Ingredients
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 5-pound bone-in pork shoulder
- garlic salt to taste
- black pepper to taste
- 2 cups vegetable broth
- 1 onion, cut into 8 wedges
- 1 head of garlic, cloves sliced lengthwise and peeled
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large skillet.
- Sprinkle garlic salt and pepper on all sides.
- Brown roast for 4 minutes on each side.
- Place the trivet in the bottom of the Instant Pot.
- Add broth, onions and garlic.
- Place the roast on top of the onion.
- Place the cover on the pot and close the vent valve.
- Pressure cook on high for 75 minutes (15 minutes per pound).
- Allow the pot to release naturally for 10 minutes, then quick release.
