Sugar Cookies with Frosting
Ingredients

- 1 cup butter, cubed and softened
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 5/8 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- ♥ Frosting
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 pound powdered sugar
- 2 1/2 Tablespoons water
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
Instructions

- Using an electric mixer, combine butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes.
- Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Gradually stir flour mixture into butter mixture using a spoon.
- Let the dough sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
- Roll the rough on a floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut into shapes with cookie cutters and place cookies onto ungreased cookie sheets.
- Bake for 4 to 6 minutes at 400 degrees.
- Remove cookies from pan and cool on wire racks.
- ♥ Frosting
- Using an electric mixer, beat shortening, powdered sugar, water, salt, vanilla extract and almond extract until fluffy.
- Frost cookies after they are completely cooled.
