Original Fried Chicken
Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 1/2 teaspoon basil
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 Tablespoon celery salt
- 1 Tablespoon black pepper
- 1 Tablespoon dry mustard powder
- 4 Tablespoons paprika
- 2 Tablespoons garlic salt
- 1 Tablespoon ground ginger
- 3 Tablespoons white pepper
- 1 Tablespoon MSG (Accent seasoning)
- 2 cups white flour
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 1 quart vegetable oil
Instructions
- Mix spices and flour in a plastic gallon freezer bag.
- Dip each piece of chicken in water, and shake excess off.
- Dredge in the flour mixture.
- Set aside for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat oil in an electric skillet to 340 degrees.
- Add chicken breasts and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add chicken thighs and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add chicken drumsticks and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add wings and cook for 10 minutes.
- Remove all pieces to a metal rack on a cookies sheet to drain the grease when done.
